Teuchos - IHPC

Collaboration between Teuchos,SA – the main engineering services company of SAFRAN - and IHPC-A*STAR started in early 2007 following several rounds of visits and subsequent discussions on potential projects. In January 2007, an agreement was inked between the two parties to undertake a series of projects in both computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational Structure Mechanics (CSM). The agreement was quickly followed by an almost daily workload of projects which utilized heavy computational resources.
During the course of the year, Teuchos had attached two staff engineers for a total of about 6 months to assist the start-up of the project with IHPC researchers. The attachment of the engineers was a indeed a positive indication of the seriousness that Teuchos has exhibited in working with IHPC on the respective areas. Following the successful completion of a series of projects, Teuchos and IHPC recently signed an agreement to establish a Joint Lab encompassing research and development on CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and CSD (Computational Solid Dynamics). This is the first lab dedicated to CSE (Computational Science and Engineering) work by Safran Group outside Europe. Embarking on this next phase shows commitment by Teuchos to lay plans for a long-term investment in S’pore by focusing on R&D
activities.
Quote from Mr. Bruno Chiarelli – Chief Operating Officer, Teuchos SA
“We’ve been working with IHPC team from May 2007 on CFD calculations on engine internal flows. After a first period dedicated to training on Star CD and specific simulation procedures, IHPC has worked directly on projects from meshing until post-treatment. This has been helpful on this project since it allowed us to have access to competent engineers on CFD problems as well as fast hardware capabilities. Specific electronic links have been settled in order to
get the collaboration even more efficient.
Perspectives are good concerning increasing collaboration with the IHPC-Singapore on CFD projects as well as beginning collaboration on other technical domains (especially on crash projects)"
