Polycore Optical (S) Pte Ltd - IHPC

IHPC was first approached by Polycore to find a solution to a problem faced in their 2003 project with DSI. The speed and effectiveness of IHPC’s response impressed Polycore and enabled them to develop a program to optimally design progressive lenses. To date, this program has been a market success.

Due to this, Polycore then embarked on a second project with IHPC to conduct a Formulation of Tinting Coating Material for CR-39 Lens using 2 approaches. This project was completed successfully and further enhanced the good relationship between Polycore and IHPC.

Subsequently, Polycore applied for one of IHPC’s RSE’s to be seconded to Polycore for 2 years under the T-Up program to work on the development of dendrimer encapsulation of photochromic dyes. The T-Up has begun in late 2005 and was completed successfully with the production of a breakthrough dendrimer prototype.

In end 2007, Polycore applied for another 6 month secondment of IHPC’s RSE to scale up the successful production of the dendrimer. The scaling up experiments have been promising so far and these results will enable Polycore to compete adequately in the targeted photochromic lens global market.
