Dr. LIM Soon Thor


Research Interests:

    Dr. Soon Thor Lim graduated with a BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering (First Class Honours) and a Ph.D from the University of Surrey under the Agilent Technologies Scholarship in 2001 and 2005 respectively. He has more than 12 years experiences in photonics related research and is currently holding the position of scientist with the Institute of High Performance Computing, Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore. Dr. Lim participated in a number of industry and academic results, and through these has contributed greatly to the understanding of silicon nano-photonics and involved strongly in knowledge transfer to industry. He has won numerous awards, including most recently, the IET Innovation Award 2011 - Software and Design Category (Highly Commended) in the United Kingdom for his work in modeling and simulation of high speed optical devices. He holds several patents and published over 20 scientific journals and conferences.
