The 2009 IHPC Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) Meeting - 30th and 31st March

Staff and researchers at IHPC welcomed the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) members to the new office premises at Fusionopolis, when the annual board meeting was held on 30 and 31 March 2009. Since 2007, the SAB has been integral to the growth and development of IHPC as an institute committed to providing leadership in high performance computing as a strategic resource for scientific inquiry and technology transfer.

Inputs from the board in identifying the needs of the local and international community and providing direction to research programmes and activities to meet those needs have been invaluable. Academic and industry collaborations have also been fostered and developed as a result of direct recommendations from the board members. Their contributions and advice has helped the institute to broaden its international networks and overseas alliances.

IHPC also welcomed a new board member - Professor Robert Weigel. Currently the Professor for Radio Frequency Electronics at Tongji University of Shanghai, China and Professor for Electronics Engineering and Head of Institute at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Erlangen, Germany, Prof Weigel is a world-renowned scientist in the fields of microwave theory and techniques, integrated optics and high-temperature superconductivity. His academic expertise will be a boon to the research work and efforts of the institute and especially, the Computational Electronics and Photonics research programme.
